Flames
Remix
The Remake of Flames
Flames was originally made by the Italian Alternative Metal band, The Black Crown.
It was released on September 3rd, 2016 on the EP 'Fragments'
On March 7th, 2017 the band made the decision to put Flames on the Cambridge Music Page for any inspiring Producers or Engineers to be able to remix their song.
Why Flames
When I first listened to the original track for Flames I immediately knew I had to remix this song. I love all music genres and I'm not afraid to jump into any genre. Rock, Metal, and Alternative is the music I really connect to the most and I saw this as an opportunity to finally jump into the Rock/Metal Genre. That's when I knew this song was going to be perfect song to remix.
Original Verse
Remixed Verse
For the remixed Verse, I used showcased the use of rewire from Ableton to Pro Tools. I changed all of the percussion and made them play at Halftime instead of Normal Time. I tried to keep the same groove of the drums with the new percussions.
Original Pre-Chorus
Remixed Pre-Chorus
For the remixed Pre-Chorus, I stripped the kick drums and replaced them with a strong live make of a kick drum from a rubber band. I used the plugin 'The Sauce' to Really widen the kick and pitch shifted the track so the rubber band sounded like a strong kick drum.
Original Bridge
Remixed Bridge
For the remixed Bridge, I added a SFX ambient, I made this by recording me using a xylophone with heavy reverb, delay, and pitch shifting on top of the ambient sound I created with my Nord Lead. I created this sound by setting my OSC 1 Set to a low bass note and my OSC 2 to a click with very low pulse width with LFO Levels then change the mix between both to get more wide tone sound which really brings out this dark hum. Then I pitch shifted it up to a brighter and darker sound and turned my envelope amount up which creates this alien feel. I added a reverb on it, so it brings out the sounds more. I also added a sound from a space toy from my friends’ little brother and cut out all the lows and added an LFO to it and finished off with reverb to get this cool ‘wuh’ effect. I doubled the track and then added automation to both, so it sounds different in both ears to give dynamics.
